It seems like an age since i posted here, And i think it’s about time i got back into writing articles here! Since my MDE was stolen last February i left the Hardtail game, and couldn’t think of anything to write about because of this.
To start with, I got together any old parts i had lying around the Hosue, Starting with the 2004 Marzo z 150’s up front. As old skool as they are, they do lock out to 80mm which will help on the climbs, and run at 150 too which will be good on the DH’s. I then needed some wheels, a stem, saddle and post, and bars, so i got on the Phone to Andy Boyle and got some bargain bits off him, Including a pair of Sunn S-types, A 35mm truvativ stem and a SDG I beam ad fat seat all for less that £150. Unfortunatley Andy didn’t have any bars, But after replacing the bars on the Porco i had a set of Funn Full Ons so fitted them.
after this i needed brakes and gears. i got the old X7 parts off my Norco and fitted them asap. Sourcing a good set of brakes turned out easier than planned, When a good friend James Morgan gave me a set of Juicy sevens.
The majority of the parts came from my sponsor, Koo Bikes, At incredibly good prices, aswell as the cranks off the Norco and a Chainguide from Superstar. The specs are as follows: 2008 Five-0, sunn s-types, gravity cranks, bbb chain ring, Shimano 9speed chain, Sram X7 mech and shifter, Avid Juicy 7’s, Shimano M530’s, Intense Tyres, Truvativ Stem, Funn Bars, Sunline Grips, Hope adaptors, and Superstar Chain guide ( I may of forgotten a few bits)
