There are some folks about, who seem to be of been around forever. Despite this they are still damned fast and will leave you standing off the lights. One such rider is one of  one of HTN’s favorite bike company (DMR) troops. as you all well know the name. He’s a busy boy and when he’s not blasting it against 3 other irders down a 4x track, he’s pinning in at a DH event or designing/tweaking new stuff for DMR. If he’s not doing that, he’s putting together some killer trails near you.

He came up on our E.s.s radar a while ago with a new take on DMR’s sidekick2. It was shiny and using tubing I had for one forgotten about. Since then he’s made regular appearance in numerous magazines and on websites. So to and to his already hectic life i badgered him to do an interview, where I started by asking him ” Who are you?”

Who are you.

It seems that there’s no shortage of new frames coming out. All in the name of fun. HTN has a go a catching a couple such companpies.

I first saw this particular bike on Dirtmountainbike site. I had to have a proper look. I was impressed by the quality of the build and intrigued by the concept. Hardtails with the ability to take long travel forks is nothing new. But these guys have gone full tilt at the idea. Seems crazy to run a triple clamp on a Hardtail. But this is no ordinary hardtail. Neither are the riders judging by the Video edits. they sure don’t hang about.

So a quick search visa Facebook and I located the company responsible. A few messages later and it appeared there was more to this unique machine that you first see. So i had to ask.  Who are you?

Ison Distribution.

Ison turn 20 this year and look to be going for a good number of years yet. Even more so when you see what the have been up to in the last 12 months. Odi have teamed up with SDG to make some cool new grips. As you’d expect they are grippy and loc-on. They also come in red and black.

Odi were also showing new colours for their Flight control bars. These are a little different. Why? Well you can make the wider by adding ODI Wing Tips. These can add 13mm or 18mm to your bars.

Gusset are’nt sitting around either. This new stem for BMX race and dirt looks spot on. Nice and light too. Designed by Isons own DMC.

They also had new colours for their bmx bars, and numerous other BMX parts including splined chain-rings and spiders.

Identiti have now got a BMX team on the go. They won’t have to worry about not being easy to spot.

TSG had an Evil Kenevil thing going on for those who want to be different.

You can certainy say TSG go all out when it comes to designs too.

Here’s some more tit-bits from the show.

Our friends from Buff were there again with some new funky bits and bobs. Just in time too given what the weathers like at the moment.

Mind you be careful where you wear these. Might end up scaring folk.

keep an eye out as Buff have been very busy with new ideas and designs. And you know that their products do the job.

Goodies...

Well it’s that time of the year where bike companies show their wares. One such show is the Core show.  It’s held in Whittlebury Hall Hotel a rather nice if somewhat upmarket building, where everyone there is rather well turned out. So it’s rather brave to let dozens of Bike shop owners and press invade. Again.
In true form Hardtailnation made the rather long haul there from their test labs in deepest part of the West Country. An early start for myself and “Ace” ment we could get there nice and early so as we could book in. After the long drive we were both relived to get there. We got in before the nice ladies had set up. Which was handy as  bacon & eggs turned up for the early birds. “Ace” managed to use his charm to get me in.
So once in it was all go right till lunch time. Which as we come to expect it was a rather nice spread and once again we were well feed. All to soon it was time to do more of the rounds.
So was there anything nice? well here’s a selection of pics we gathered along the way.

I’ve never knowingly encountered this rather unique individual. I have however been to where he works and lives but that was long ago. However my partner in crime (ACE) has filled me in on the weird and wonderful world  that he is master and commander of. I know he has a completely different view of a DH race not more than 10 miles from my door. From what I do know is that his little home town in a nice little place not too far from the hustle and bustle of  Poole. Having ridden there to meet a lady friend many years ago I know a few of it’s secrets. But it would appear to hold many more. If you move in certain circles he is maybe more familiar.

Charlie, long bike, long surf board, long lunch break.
