Unknown Bikes Johnnie Foreigner

Tag: ReviewsDirtyDave @ 6:44 pm
I got the chance to test out the new jump/street frame from UnKnown Bikes, as soon as Dibly pulled it out the boot of his car i knew i was in for a treat!
It just looks right.
Lets check out some of the fine detail (click on images to see full size).
The mirror finish on the paint and sticker kit is real smooth, tiny dropouts add a touch of class and keep the weight down.
I really loved the internal seat clamp which keeps the lines clean and crap out, big tuff 6mm hex bolt in there too.
Finishing with the BB and Headtube the quality just keeps going! The chainstay arch is solid and all light formed steel which helps add alot of strenght but not alot of weight!
The headtude is an internal affair with gyro-mounts for the tricksters out there.
Overall this bike is impressive and coming from a background of steel hartails i’d like to think i know a thing or two, the finish was like glass which does need protecting at cable conact points with some protector stickers. The look and design is very pleasing and it turned quite alot of heads as i raced about the streets on in, it looks very classy!
Weight is low and this aided to the launch’ability of this rig, i found myself flicking x-ups off all the kerbs in town. The frame was built up around some RS Tora 100mm with lockout, Halo rims, Kink stem and Gusset bars and they made for a very tight ride!
This frame is all about dirt jams and street with its short stays, tight angles and super responsive steel giving plenty of feedback from the terrain.
Retailing at around the £270 mark for the frame which i feel looks and feels much more exspensive!
So support the UK bike companies and invest in a bit of quality.

Keep an eye out for dig days at all these venues!

The format for the racing is staying the same for 2009, with Uplift on Saturday, Race on Sunday, with the usual amount of practise and 2 timed runs. We thought long and hard about ways of improoving the format, but decided that ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’

Well since the demise of the Dragons there seems to be more arising from the Ashes.

First off is the Taff Buggy uplift days ( see post below ) and now there is a proper website for the newly formed Welsh Mountain Biking Association.      go to www.WDMBA.co.uk for info.

Next year in wales could be very interesting indeed.

So, the season was rounded off with the DiamondBack decision downhill race up at moelfre. Winter is pretty much here now, It’s already getting too dark to ride after work. So we’ve got to make the most of the weekends. The credit crunch is also upon us, so everyone is spending less on biking, which sucks!. You may be wondering where i’m going with this…

Well, I’ve got a great opourtuntity to get lots of riding for cheap! How?

Me @ Moelfre

This is how my hardtail nutter friends.. Log onto http://www.borderline-events.co.uk/events.asp , there you will find all the details you need to book yourself onto BorderLine events last uplift weekend of the season, Both tracks there will be open, with 4 tractors on hand to get us up the mountain. You can get upto 20 runs per day and Dinner down the pub for £35 for the whole weekend! That’s almost the same as Dragons we’re for 1 day!
